An interesting question. I have wondered before if my dog thinks I change colors on a daily basis when I change clothes. But then I remember she does not care. I find comfort in the fact that I don't have to pretend around animals. They know our souls, our spirits, our fears, our joy. They don't see a smile like we see a smile. Instead they smell our happiness and it has been said that the sense of smell is connected to memory which is connected to the all knowing web. Maybe my dog smells me and then sees me like a quivering web. When I smile at her she sees a raindrop falling through sunlight and she knows everything is alright.
