SKIN

Skin is the first collaboration between composer Pauline Oliveros and choreographer Paula Josa-Jones. It is an innovative performance integrating text, visual design, music, and dance. The set consisted of three twenty-foot long suspended paper trees equipped with microphones, which amplified the sounds of the performers movements. Ms. Oliveros performed the piece's score at the edge of the stage and used instruments including accordion, percussion and voice. Ms. Oliveros and Ms. Josa-Jones developed the concept and performance elements in a residency at Yellow Springs Institute, with dancers Sara Scala Ray and Pamela Newell.

The piece was also performed at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors. Over eight hundred people attended the event, which was free and open to the public. Creative Time
